What a weekend of cup finals for Rising Stars!

Huge congratulations to our U12s for their emphatic 4-0 win over title rivals Folkestone Invicta Youth at Baypoint on Sunday 28th April, in the East Kent Youth League Charles Ridge Memorial Cup. The boys worked hard for each other throughout, keeping up their excellent record of clean sheets and still only 9 goals conceded during the whole season! Alex was voted player of the match. The team are deserving champions, now chasing the double!

Huge congratulations too to our U12 Juniors, who beat Ramsgate Colts 2-1 in the Invitational Cup Final organised by the Faversham and District Youth Football League on Saturday 27th April hosted by Faversham Strike Force. Some fantastic attacking play in windy conditions, with Alonso voted player of the match! Well done all, and well done Alonso.

And hard luck to our U10 Colts, who played so well against a strong Dover Rangers team, losing 2-1 at the final whistle. The squad have made great progress throughout the season and should be proud of what they've achieved.

One more finals day, 11th May, for our U9s in the EKYFL Steve Ginger Memorial Cup...

Go Risers!!!

U7's Win Festival Cup!

Some great games played today at Herne Bay harriers tournament. We started the morning facing the hosts. After a close ten minute game we drew 0-0. Next we faced dawn hill. 3 great goals from Albert and fantastic saves from Charlie meant we finished 3-1. The same result followed against Margate youth, we when went through as group winners. We faced a tough game against Tankerton in the semi finals of the cup. The result ended 2-1 with another 2 goals from Albert. We then faced Margate youth in the final of the cup. Winning 2-1 in the last kick of the game!

Excellent all round performance.

U7 Juniors Win Festival Plate!

Our U7 Juniors started their first ever season as a development squad in a tough league, but their progression has been outstanding. Remaining positive through some very tough games at the start, they have grown together as a team getting consistently stronger throughout the season. All their hard work was proven today when they ended up winning the Faversham and District Youth League Festival Plate!

Today the boys started off well, full of confidence and team spirit. Working hard they made it through the initial group stage with some tough matches, finding themselves in the plate semi final. This was a close game with goals at both ends, however they ended up victorious through an intense penalty shoot out.

The final was just as close and remained goal-less, so the boys had to endure yet another penalty shoot out at the end of what had been a long morning of high intensity football. The pressure was on, and I felt for the parents watching through their fingers and holding their breaths. The team remained composed however (which is incredible for a group of 6 and 7 year olds with so many people watching), and with some precision goals and fantastic goalkeeping, they ended up winning again.

An amazing effort by all. Fantastic team spirit, and and incredible support from the sidelines. Eliseo and I as coaches could not be more proud of this young teams achievement and progression in such a short space of time. We are really looking forward to watching them as they continue to grow.

U7 Colts Reach Festival Semi-Final

Rising Stars U7s Colts enjoyed a successful campaign in the FDYFL Festival hosted by Herne Bay Harriers last Saturday.

After winning their group finishing unbeaten following one win and two draws, the U7s Colts were unfortunately knocked out in the semi-finals – just missing out on a possible clash with fellow Rising Stars U7s!

Once again Evan in goal made some match winning saves, Spencer produced numerous tackles and interceptions, Harry kept his nerve to score a last minute penalty, Logan never stopped running in midfield, Bobby kept opposition defenders busy with some clever runs and Josh kept up his fine goalscoring form with another goal.

Well done boys, especially as we were missing Fraser from the squad, for a tremendous effort and a great performance in the semi-final.

Match Report: U10 Girls v Kings hill

A sunny Sunday afternoon at King's Hill but one to quickly move on from... An uncharacteristic performance but even the strongest teams have off-days, so we'll take the positives and move on.

Natasha was awarded player of the match with a really good defensive display, closely tracking the opponent's talented striker. Demi displayed some intelligent touches and broke up a number of King's Hill attacks down the right.

Hattie made some good runs into the box and was unlucky not to score, with a decent effort hitting the post. Home game next, so a chance to bounce back quickly.

Match Report: U11 Girls v Guru Nanak

Ace photographer Steven sacrificed breaking in his new petrol lawnmower to make the journey to Gravesend this morning and my word, was it worth it.

Upon arrival the team could see their opposition warming up and the height advantage was clear to all. Our squad have grown used to setting these perceived advantages to one side and proceeded to warm up in their usual well drilled style.

The match was a close fought affair and the physical element was becoming more apparent but met with mature resistance from our team. There were moments in this match where a lesser group of footballers would have descended into calling out the referee on unseen misdemeanours, but this Rising Stars unit have become accustomed to simply getting on with what they do best; pass, move and attack.

A hat trick from Izzy was the least that this team deserved, creating chance after chance in the attacking third.

The defence was resolute in the face of adversity and Lizzie was once again a serious force to be reckoned with.

Coach Neil was particularly looking for effective link up play this week and Angelica was awarded the coach’s medal for her work in this area. She demonstrated a superb footballing brain throughout and the evidence of her hard work at training was there in abundance.

The future looks incredibly bright for this group of players and we, as parents, could not be prouder of their progress.
