Our U7 Juniors started their first ever season as a development squad in a tough league, but their progression has been outstanding. Remaining positive through some very tough games at the start, they have grown together as a team getting consistently stronger throughout the season. All their hard work was proven today when they ended up winning the Faversham and District Youth League Festival Plate!
Today the boys started off well, full of confidence and team spirit. Working hard they made it through the initial group stage with some tough matches, finding themselves in the plate semi final. This was a close game with goals at both ends, however they ended up victorious through an intense penalty shoot out.
The final was just as close and remained goal-less, so the boys had to endure yet another penalty shoot out at the end of what had been a long morning of high intensity football. The pressure was on, and I felt for the parents watching through their fingers and holding their breaths. The team remained composed however (which is incredible for a group of 6 and 7 year olds with so many people watching), and with some precision goals and fantastic goalkeeping, they ended up winning again.
An amazing effort by all. Fantastic team spirit, and and incredible support from the sidelines. Eliseo and I as coaches could not be more proud of this young teams achievement and progression in such a short space of time. We are really looking forward to watching them as they continue to grow.
